3- decorating, craving pumpkins into Jack-o´lanterns or something else

Here are some suggestions where to buy pumpkins in Prague and outside the city

Big stores like Tesco, Albert, Tesco and Interspar have plenty of pumpkin to choose among. Prices depend on size, but we can estimate it between 60 - 300 CZK.

Farmers´markets around the city might have very nice ones for nice prices, too. Between 40 - 200 kc deoending on size.

A small farm in East Bohemia is known and called Pumpkin World. Give it a try if you are on the way

Bykos is a place near Beroun, about 40 km out of Prague and the owner of this place sells pumpkins and promise to deliver them. It sounds good, ah!

Try also in the flowers´shop, they might hide some pumpkins too..

Signal Festival Prague 17-20/10/2013

It has started yesterday and of course we could not miss it. So, we took our nice autumn coat, umbrella - you never know it is always tricky the weather lately - stopped for a svarak to go (hot wine) - it is finally time for it, probably the best part of the winter to come - and we headed to the city to enjoy light installations.

It was just the first day and the city is packed with events, performance and visual exhibitions to follow and enjoy.

Here is the map of all them, which you can also download to your mobile.

MAP OF INSTALLATIONS

We walked thought the center and Old Town Square where you can find the Installation of the cube..

Hypercube is a futuristic large scale installation which aims to change the visitor experience of the heart of the Prague Old Town. Future and history melt on the boarders of the Hypercube.
Number of installation: 5
Location: Old Town Square
Timing of instalation: 17. 10. - 20.10. 2013; 19:30 - 23:30

Then, we went up to Letna park, walk through the park in the night is definetly a not-to-miss experience apart from the light installations.

Destination was the Metronom from where we had a wonderful view of the city and the skyline was lighted by a green ray of light...

Already in time of building of the famous Metronome on Letná (1991) its author Vratislav Karel Novák was considering to use light to deepen the meaning and effect of this unique kinetic sculpture. His idea was based on metaphorical interconnection of Prague’s history, present and future by single ray of light: to send a laser ray from window of old house on Old Town Square through the Pařížská street right onto the Metronome where it would be refracted to the sky. Technologies of the time were far too undeveloped, so the project was not realized. After more than 20 years SIGNAL festival decided to make this amazing idea real.
Number of installation: 17
Location: Letná
Timing of instalation: 17. 10. - 20.10. 2013; 19:30 - 23:30

Dancing House was very colourful and a wonderful view walking towards it...

Dancing House, also known as Ginger and Fred, has become the iconic building of Prague architecture. The building is very closely related to the modern Czech history. The building closely linked to the modern Czech history was placed to the area affected by bombing of Prague during the World War II and its architectural design came into existence during totalism. The project was implemented in postrevolutionary years. Ginger and Fred do not represent only the famous pair of dancers but also the static image of totality and dynamic development after the velvet revolution. The festival illumination will be inspired by the rich history of this building and will work with the most important moments and thoughts which stand behind this building. Will you recognize which moments from the period between 1930-2000 the lighting of Dancing House represents?

Implementation: Philips & Eltodo
Number of installation: 28
Location: Dancing House
Timing of instalation: 17. 10. - 20.10. 2013; 19:30 - 23:30

This is our favourite one, near Kampa Island. Really suggestive and romantic, isn't it?
The Cloud

The piece utilizes everyday domestic light bulbs and pull strings, re-imagining their potential to create wonder and inspire collaboration. As part of the process of creating the sculpture, the artists collected burnt out incandescent light bulbs from the surrounding community, forging an informal relationship with non-artists, reducing costs, and asking audiences to reconsider household items in an alternative context. During exhibition, viewers interact with CLOUD by initiating impromptu collaborations, working as a collective to turn the entire sculpture on and off.
Number of installation: 6
Location: Hergetova cihelna
Timing of instalation: 17. 10. - 20.10. 2013; 19:30 - 23:30

Namesti Miru was also among our favourite location...more pictures coming soon but this is what we found surfing the net and differenct blog pages talking about the Signal Festival

Khôra (Khora or Chora, in ancient Greek: χώρα) is a philosophical term described by Plato as a vessel, space or interval in his work Timaeus. It is neither existence, nor nonexistence, it is the interval between, in which the “forms” are originally present. Khora “gives space” and possesses maternal hidden meaning (uterus, matrix). Amorphous and unnameable “something” that cannot be identified and can only be called into being through images of unidentifiable phenomena – endless night.
Number of installation: 1
Location: Kostel svaté Ludmily (Vinohrady)
Timing of instalation: 17. 10. - 20.10. 2013; 19:30 - 23:30. Projection repeats after every 15 minutes.

This is what we saw so far, going around the city and discovering it in this new colours and lights is a real pleasure that we want to have the pleasure to share with you in little bites..so tonight is another chance to stroll around, take new pictures, etc..

Our personal suggestion? Mmmm considering that we have been obviously tasted all of this...
I would definetly recommend the Venison Pate with Onion Marmelade followed by the Pumpkin Soup with sour cream - I personally love the taste if pumpkin.
As main dish I would go for the Wild Boar with red cabbage and apple, very autumn style and very tasty. To conclude happily, our Gustav is a master in desserts that's why I will never say no to any of them, but if I really had to choose and suggest...simple but with grea effect the evergreen Butter Apple pie with curd. If you are coming twice to Restaurant Rigoletto then do not miss the Pear Poached in wine with caramel decoration - a beautiful composition and so much good to the palate..

Have we tempted you enough?
